394 Households and Counting: Resilience Across State Lines
As we move through the first quarter of 2026, the mission of Our Front Porch has never felt more vital. We don’t need to wait for a wildfire or hurricane to find disaster survivors, as we have already served 394 households since January 1st across three states: Colorado, Missouri, and Arkansas. Because of your support, we have been there to help families pick up the pieces.
Expanding our reach has been a profound journey. Working alongside our Red Cross partners in these states has allowed us to scale our impact, and while every region is unique, the challenges disaster survivors face are universal. Regardless of geography, we consistently see similiar hurdles:
Housing Instability: The daunting search for a safe place to call home.
Financial Insecurity: The sudden, overwhelming burden of unexpected recovery costs.
Increased Stress & Anxiety: The invisible weight of trauma that lingers long after the news cameras leave.
Our team of disaster stabilization experts does more than provide a checklist. They are on the ground (and on the line) to answer complex questions, facilitate connections with licensed therapists, and offer a compassionate, listening ear.
One of our most powerful tools for healing has been our virtual group calls. These sessions provide a sanctuary for community and storytelling. During a recent call, one member shared a sentiment that truly captured why we do what we do:
"I am grateful to be able to vent to Our Front Porch and all of you, because nobody else understands."
That is the essence of Our Front Porch. We are a place where survivors belong, where their experiences are validated, and where they can stay for as long as they need to find their footing again.
As we continue to grow, our commitment remains the same: ensuring that no one has to navigate the "days after" alone. Thank you for being the foundation that allows us to build these porches of support.
With gratitude,
The Our Front Porch Team
P.S. It costs $100 for one disaster survivor to join our virtual support groups. As one member shared, "nobody else understands" the way this community does. These calls are often the first time a survivor feels truly seen and supported in their trauma. Your gift today ensures that the next family in Colorado, Missouri, or Arkansas has a seat at the table and a safe place to heal.
