Here is a way to explain what happened to a school-aged child and why it takes so long to rebuild after a disaster:
A disaster is something huge and scary that happens suddenly, like a fire, flood, or storm, and it changes things very fast. When that happens, people need time to make sure everyone is safe, fix what's broken, and rebuild things the right way.
That’s why rebuilding takes time—it’s about being careful and keeping people safe. Waiting can feel frustrating or unfair. Those feelings make sense. Even though rebuilding takes time, people are working on it, and you are not forgotten.
