Module 5: Quiet Victories
Small wins matter
Celebrating quiet victories during disaster recovery really matters, because this process is long, exhausting, and often full of setbacks. When progress feels slow—or like nothing is changing—pausing to notice the small things you’ve handled helps remind your brain and body that you are moving forward, even if it doesn’t feel that way.
Those small wins help prevent burnout and keep you from feeling swallowed by the process. They turn recovery into a series of manageable steps instead of one impossible task. Noticing them is a way of saying:
I’m still here.
I’m still showing up.
And I’m doing something incredibly hard.
Healing after a disaster isn’t about rushing to the finish line; it’s about recognizing strength along the way, one moment at a time.
