Module 3: Third Party Administrators

Who are they and what do they do?

In recent years, insurance companies have increasingly relied on Third-Party Administrators (TPAs) to handle parts of the claims process. While insurers claim this helps manage heavy workloads, for you, it often means another layer of bureaucracy and another person to track down for approvals. A TPA might be hired specifically to write the repair estimate, or they may be tasked with managing your entire claim.

To stay in control, ask your adjuster the following questions as soon as a TPA is involved:

Role: Exactly what part of my claim are they handling?

Contact Info: How do I reach them directly?

Authority: Do they have the power to approve payments, or do they still need your final permission?
